Which “branded” gasoline allows you to go further? Testing popular brands

Today, almost every major gas station chain offers its own “branded” gasoline A-95, which contains special cleaning components that improve the performance of the fuel system and extend the engine’s life. However, among drivers there are still debates: is it worth its price, or is it just a marketing move? To find out, experts from the Institute of Consumer Expertise conducted a large-scale testing, evaluating the power, torque, and economy of three popular gasoline brands.

How was the testing conducted?

For the research, three samples of improved A-95 were selected:

– OKKO Pulls 95 – one of the most expensive options on the market;
– Euro Plus (BRSM-Nafta) – one of the cheapest;
– Energy (UKRNAFTA) – of average cost.

The experts measured key indicators on a certified dynamometer bench Dynapack, simulating real driving conditions, including loads on the chassis and speed changes. The test car was a Toyota Camry 2024 with a mileage of 17,000 km. Measurements were carried out in a “highway” mode (80-100 km/h) to minimize errors.

In total, dozens of measurement cycles were conducted. The measurements were made in a “highway” mode, i.e., on the highest gear at speeds ranging from 80 to 100 km/h. This algorithm allows to eliminate errors caused by driving style and differences in gear shifting.

The test results provided an answer to the question that concerns many Ukrainian drivers – is there a difference between “branded” types of fuel? Judging from the test results, the difference is significant. The torque and power on samples of OKKO Pulls 95 and UKRNAFTA Energy turned out to be identical. In Euro Plus BRSM-Nafta these parameters were lower by almost 5 percent.

As for fuel consumption, the leader was the UKRNAFTA Energy fuel, which showed a result of 5.0 l/100 km, slightly more than Pulls 95 – 5.2 l/100 km, the highest in Euro Plus – 5.5 l/100 km. Accordingly, the test Toyota Camry on a full tank of UKRNAFTA Energy was able to travel 1200 kilometers, while on the “branded” A-95 from BRSM – 1090. According to experts, the difference is due to different quality characteristics of the fuel, its composition, manufacturer, as well as transportation and storage conditions.
