Published Archival Photos of Ukrainian Homemade Cars with an Unknown Fate

Pavel Lozovenko published archival photos of homemade Ukrainian cars on his Facebook page. In particular, it concerns a 1988 calendar of the Technical Creativity of Car Lovers of Ukraine. Unfortunately, it is unknown what fate befell many of these homemade creations.

As the author of the post writes, all these homemade cars “were not created from a good life. But they were created by talented hands. In those years, it was almost impossible to get parts and build a car practically from scratch.

The ‘samavto’ movement was quite strong. However, it quickly faded away after the collapse, for natural reasons. Now these cars are already items of collection. It is interesting, how many of them have survived to our days at least in some form?”

As seen in this photo, the calendar features 13 homemade cars of Ukraine:

  • Lotus (on the cover)
  • Sport-1100
  • Tourist-2
  • Galatea
  • Colibri
  • Dream
  • Lybid
  • Sport-1200
  • Flamingo
  • Katran
  • Dnepr
  • Penguin
  • Tourist
