The New Alfa Romeo Stelvio Arrives on U.S. Shores in 2026, Current Models Sold Until Then

Alfa Romeo has introduced the new Stelvio crossover, which will soon be available for sale in North America. The current gasoline models Giulia and Stelvio will remain available until 2026. The next Stelvio will be accompanied by the new Giulia, both cars will be based on the same platform. Alfa Romeo confirmed to CarScoops magazine that a completely new car will appear in U.S. dealerships in 2026, replacing the current generation that has existed since 2017.

For American buyers who still favor classic models, the existing Stelvio and Giulia will remain until 2026, providing an opportunity to purchase another Alfa model running on gasoline before the brand fully transitions to electrification with hybrid and battery options. The news concerns the leakage of a document that confirmed the cessation of the current model by the summer, with specific end dates for each variant. We reached out to Alfa Romeo North America for comment, and here’s what the representative said:

“For example, the last 1.8-liter gas engine for the Stelvio and Giulia will remain available in North America until the calendar year 2026,” said the representative. After confirming the availability of outgoing models, the representative also shared details about their successors:

“The start of production for the next generation Stelvio for North America will begin in the calendar year 2026, followed by the next generation Giulia. Based on the STLA Large multi-energy platform, both vehicles will be available with electric and hybrid propulsion systems.”

There is no official debut date for the next iteration yet, but it is expected to first appear on the scene in 2026.

A design change is anticipated, as messages indicate that Giulia may shed its sedan roots in favor of a more crossover-like, fastback silhouette, likely an attempt to broaden its appeal. Spy shots, teasers, and comments from Alfa Romeo senior management have given us an idea of the future for both Giulia and Stelvio. The new next-generation models are likely to adopt design traits that were first seen on, thereby further developing the Italian brand’s design language. In addition to the new look, the updated Stelvio and Giulia will have the STLA Large platform, offering a choice of electric or hybrid engines. The new STLA Brain electronic architecture will further enhance the competitiveness of both models.

When these new versions hit the market, they will compete with opponents from the gasoline BMW 3-Series and X3 to, as well as the respective models from Mercedes and Audi – to mention just a few of the more obvious rivals.
