Failed attempt to steal Hummer EVs
In Detroit, two thieves attempted to steal two brand-new Hummer EVs directly from the railroad yard of GM’s Factory Zero plant. However, their plan failed—both vehicles remained on the tracks, having lost their wheels.
The criminals likely found the cars unlocked with keys inside. One of the Hummers (black) remained on the tracks with a torn-off front wheel. The other (silver) couldn’t even get off the train—it suffered serious body damage after falling onto the rails.
According to sources, the incident is under investigation, but no arrests have been made yet.
This story serves as a reminder that even the most expensive electric vehicles are not immune to amateur theft attempts. At the same time, the technical features of the Hummer EV (weight, high ground clearance) made escape difficult for the criminals, highlighting the need for better security at transport facilities.
