The first SUV from Xiaomi looks so cool and powerful that its absence on the market is truly regrettable

Xiaomi unveils its first crossover YU7

Xiaomi has officially launched its first electric crossover, the YU7, in the Chinese market. This is the brand’s second model following the successful SU7 sedan, which sold 258,000 units in 14 months.

The YU7 stands out with its stylish design featuring aerodynamic elements such as a “shark nose,” water droplet-shaped LED headlights, and an active grille. Its drag coefficient is just 0.245. The car is available in three vibrant colors: Emerald Green, Titanium Silver, and Lava Orange.

Technical features

The YU7’s interior impresses with technological solutions:

The crossover offers three powertrain options:

  • Base version with a single motor (316 hp, 0-100 km/h in 5.9 s)
  • YU7 Pro with all-wheel drive (489 hp, 0-100 km/h in 4.3 s)
  • Top-tier YU7 Max (681 hp, 0-100 km/h in 3.2 s)

“The Model Y starts at 263,500 yuan ($36,600), and considering the YU7’s configuration, this car should cost 60,000-70,000 yuan ($8,300-9,700) more,” stated Xiaomi founder Lei Jun.

Official prices for the new model are expected to be announced in July. Earlier reports of a starting price around 200,000 yuan ($27,800) were denied by the company’s management.

The Xiaomi YU7 is equipped with an advanced driver assistance system, including lidar, a 4D radar, 11 high-definition cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. Charging the battery from 10% to 80% takes just 12 minutes, providing up to 620 km of range after 15 minutes of charging.

Given the success of the SU7, the new crossover has every chance to become popular among Chinese buyers. The price difference compared to the Tesla Model Y is particularly striking and could be a decisive factor for many customers. Now, all that remains is to wait for official sales data and competitors’ reactions to this model’s launch.
