Forget the Rogue: This Electric Crossover Could Become Nissan’s New Hit

New Electric SUV from Nissan and Dongfeng

The joint work of Nissan and Dongfeng is actively expanding the lineup of electric vehicles for the Chinese market. Following the success of the N7 sedan, which became the most popular foreign electric car in China, the company is preparing to launch the hybrid N6. Now, plans also include a new SUV, which could become part of the N series.

Prototype Details

Photos published on social media show two camouflaged SUV prototypes. They have a modern design with split headlights, frameless windows, and LiDAR sensors. The rear end is currently equipped with temporary lights, but a full-width LED light bar is expected in the production version.

User Sugar Design notes that the prototype bears a resemblance to the Dongfeng Yipai eπ 008, but the body and glazing are different.

Technical Features

The new SUV is likely to be more compact than the Dongfeng Yipai eπ 008, which is over 5 meters long. The model may be offered both as a fully electric version and with a range-extender engine. The electric variant will have an 82.3 kWh battery and a range of up to 620 km.

The production version is expected to hit the market in just a few months. Nissan has also registered the trademarks N9 and N10, which may indicate plans for larger models in the future.

The Chinese market remains key for Nissan, and the new SUV could be the next step in the brand’s strategy for product localization. Demand for electric crossovers in the region continues to grow, so the launch of the N8 model could strengthen the company’s position in this segment.
