Golf of the Future: Family Electric Vehicles to Replace Traditional Cars

Škoda Prepares the Vision O Electric Concept

Škoda continues to reveal details of its new Vision O concept, which will debut at the IAA motor show in Munich in September. This car will become the prototype for the next generation Octavia, which for the first time will receive an electric powertrain. The production version is expected to appear on the market by 2029.

The latest teaser image highlights the sporty design of the model in an estate body. The low roofline, raked windshield, and stylish rear lights are reminiscent of the Audi A6 e-tron Avant, but with Škoda’s signature elements. The manufacturer states that the concept will demonstrate the evolution of the Modern Solid design language.

Technical Features

The new Octavia EV is being developed on the SSP platform, shared with the future Volkswagen ID.Golf. Both models will receive an 800-volt charging system, but Škoda will offer more space thanks to a longer wheelbase. In the future, buyers will be offered both single- and dual-motor versions.

Owners have long claimed that the Octavia is the best Golf.

Despite the transition to electric drive, Škoda does not plan to quickly phase out conventional hybrid versions of the Octavia due to their popularity in Europe. The company expects the two lineups to coexist on the market for some time.

The success of Škoda’s electric SUVs, such as the Elroq and Enyaq, which increased the brand’s sales by 13.6% in the first half of 2025, indicates growing demand for electric vehicles. The smaller Epiq is also being prepared for launch, expanding the brand’s electric range. Against this backdrop, the Vision O demonstrates that Škoda is serious about electrifying its entire lineup, including estates, which have always been an important part of their product portfolio.
