Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Impresses on the Track and in Drift
The new electric car from Xiaomi has already made its mark both on the race track and in masterful drifting. This sedan not only set a record among production electric cars but also demonstrated impressive handling skills in a specially prepared video reminiscent of the famous works of the Hoonigan team.
On Qionghai Island in China, pilot Ye Zhicheng performs complex drift maneuvers using a hydraulic handbrake for controlled slides. One of the most spectacular scenes was a figure-eight drift between two moving limousines – all amidst thick smoke from scorching tires.
The company Xiaomi was so impressed with the result that its head, Lei Jun, personally shared this video on social networks.
In the final part of the video, the SU7 Ultra accompanies a modified Toyota 86 with an engine from another model while climbing a mountain road. If the Japanese sports car is forced to stop due to overheating, the Chinese electric car continues the show without any problems.
This demonstration run clearly shows that electric cars today are capable of not only speed records but also high-precision control at the limit of possibility. It is especially impressive that the SU7 Ultra remains a production model, despite the professional drift modifications in this case.
