Error in Google Maps Leads to Daily Reboots of Some Rivian Vehicles

Navigation Issues in Rivian After Update

A recent software update intended to improve Rivian’s navigation system has instead caused dissatisfaction among owners. The company added Google Maps features, including place search and traffic data, but now some users are facing GPS freezes.

According to reports, the system sometimes stops responding, and the only way to restore its operation is to perform a soft reboot by holding the buttons on the steering wheel. This does not affect all vehicles: owners of newer Gen2 models are not reporting issues, while some Gen1 models are experiencing difficulties.

Temporary Solutions and Manufacturer’s Response

Some users described additional inconveniences, such as incorrect location detection or search malfunction. While Rivian has not provided an official comment, owners have to manually reboot the system to avoid problems.

The cause likely lies in a software bug, and the company may already be working on a fix. If so, a new update should resolve the issue in the near future. For now, it remains to wait for an official fix or continue using temporary methods.
