The New Unique Bugatti May Be the Most Significant in History

Bugatti Prepares a Unique Model as Part of a New Program

Bugatti is opening a new chapter in its history by launching a program to create exclusive one-off models. The first such car, named Solitaire, will be unveiled on August 7th. The company has published enigmatic teasers that only allow glimpses of individual design elements.

The new model is positioned as the “embodiment of grace and elegance, grounded in Bugatti’s unique heritage.” The published images reveal a wide radiator grille with an aluminum finish and a carbon splitter, as well as a coupe-like rear glass element that might also serve as an engine cover. The car is painted in a bright green color reminiscent of Bentley’s style.

Not just customized, but absolutely unique. Prepare to rethink what defines Bugatti – one unique project at a time. Every line is carved with purpose, every detail is perfected.

What is Known About the Newcomer?

While it’s logical to assume this model will be based on the Tourbillon hypercar, hints from the company suggest the possibility of using a different platform. Among the speculations are a crossover, a grand tourer akin to the Koenigsegg Gemera, or a modern interpretation of the canceled 2015 Bugatti Atlantic project.

In an official statement, Bugatti mentions the classic Type 57 SC Atlantic, which inspired the creation of the one-off La Voiture Noire in 2019. The latter, like other special versions based on the Chiron, used the traditional W16 powertrain.

It is unknown whether the new program involves the use of alternative platforms and engines, beyond bespoke bodies and interiors. Meanwhile, the Tourbillon is equipped with an 8.3-liter naturally aspirated V16 and three electric motors with a combined output of 1775 hp, making it the most powerful model in the brand’s history.

It is known that the first Solitaire example will join the collection of Dutch businessman Michel Perridon, which is considered the largest private collection of Bugattis in the world. Details about the car will be revealed during the official presentation in early August.

This launch marks Bugatti’s return to the traditions of coachbuilding, where each car is created according to the wishes of a specific client. In a world dominated by mass production, this approach remains an island of exclusivity, preserving the aura of specialness around the brand. After coming under the wing of Rimac, Bugatti seems to have found a balance between innovation and honoring its century-old heritage.
