New Porsche 911 Turbo Convertible with a Hybrid System
Photos of the 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo Convertible during testing have surfaced for the first time. This model will receive a hybrid system, an active radiator grille, a digital instrument panel, and an illuminated rear logo.
So far, Porsche has only updated the Carrera and Targa versions, but now it’s the Turbo’s turn. Test mules of the Turbo S coupe have already been spotted, but this time photographers captured the convertible almost without camouflage. Both models are expected to debut in the fall, possibly at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
Technical Updates
The current Turbo and Turbo S versions are equipped with a 3.7-liter twin-turbocharged boxer engine producing 572 hp and 641 hp, respectively. However, the new model might receive a 3.0-liter engine from the GTS, which, combined with an electric motor, delivers 532 hp. The Turbo S is expected to reach an output of 700 hp.
The GTS received only one turbocharger, but thanks to a 53-horsepower electric motor in the transmission, its total power is 532 hp.
The Turbo’s hybrid system will not be a plug-in, so an electric-only mode is not provided. Also, unlike some competitors, this model will not be able to drive on electricity alone. Like other models of the 992.2 generation, the Turbo will get a digital instrument panel, an engine start button, and a standard two-seat configuration.
Active aerodynamics, borrowed from the GTS, will allow for automatic adjustment of airflow for optimal cooling and downforce. Interestingly, the illuminated Porsche logo at the rear, already present on other models, will now also appear on the Turbo.
The updates to the Turbo Convertible show that Porsche continues to integrate hybrid technologies into its sports cars while preserving their dynamic essence. Although some traditionalists may miss manual transmissions, new technologies open up additional possibilities for improving performance and efficiency. The debut of the new model in the fall could become one of the main events in the world of sports cars.
