Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Easily Outpaced a Mustang That Costs Almost Twice as Much

New Records at the Nürburgring

Chevrolet has presented the official results of its most powerful Corvettes at the Nürburgring. The fastest among them was the ZR1X model with 1250 hp, which posted a time of 6:49.275 – the best result among American cars. The standard ZR1 version with a time of 6:50.763 also outperformed the Mustang GTD (6:52.072), the previous record holder, despite a significantly lower price.

The price of the ZR1X has not yet been announced, but it is expected to exceed $200,000. The base ZR1 is already available for $178,195, which is significantly cheaper than the Mustang GTD ($327,960) and the Porsche 911 GT3 RS ($253,695), which posted a time of 6:49.33.

Additional Equipment and Cost

It is important to consider that all these cars were equipped with additional options to enhance performance. For example, the Porsche GT3 RS had the $34,730 Weissach package, which includes alloy wheels and carbon parts. Similarly, the Corvette ZR1 received the $1,500 ZTK package, which adds magnetic dampers and special tires.

Congratulations to the Corvette team. The game is on.

Despite the additional costs, even with the options considered, the ZR1 remains significantly more affordable than its competitors. Ford, in turn, has hinted that work on improving the Mustang GTD is not yet complete. Interestingly, Porsche plans to introduce an even more powerful Manthey kit for $116,160, which could change the balance of power on the track.
