Rivian’s New R1 Quad Model Develops 1025 Horsepower and Supports Tesla Charging

Rivian Introduces New Powerful Electric Vehicles

Rivian has updated its lineup of electric vehicles by introducing the second generation of the R1T (pickup) and R1S (SUV) models in the Quad version. Both novelties received four electric motors each, which deliver a staggering 1025 hp and a torque of 1622 Nm. This allows the pickup to accelerate to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds, and the SUV in 2.6 seconds.

Among the key features is the possibility of a range of up to 400 miles (644 km) in Conserve mode, when the rear motor is disconnected to save charge. The cars also received a new engine cooling system that improves their performance both off-road and on the track.

Design and Interior

Externally, the new models are almost indistinguishable from their predecessors, but the Quad versions received an exclusive Ascend interior with quilted seats, bronze accents, and a choice of wood inserts. Externally, new 20- and 22-inch wheels have been added, as well as brake calipers in Laguna Beach Blue color.

“When you activate Kick Turn, your R1 Quad intelligently adjusts power to the inner wheels, slowing or even reversing them. This provides precise control over wheel slip”

Technological Innovations

Among the interesting features are the Launch Cam mode, which records the car’s acceleration, and the future RAD Tuner update. It will allow drivers to customize handling dynamics using intuitive sliders. Also, in the fall, the Kick Turn function will appear to facilitate sharp turns off-road.

The cost of the novelties starts from $115,990 for the R1T and $121,990 for the R1S. The company has already opened pre-orders for the Launch Edition with an exclusive green body color and additional equipment. The first deliveries are expected as early as the end of the month.

The updated Rivian models demonstrate how electric vehicles are gradually transforming from an ecological alternative into real competitors for traditional powerful cars. The combination of a long range on a single charge with dynamics previously available only in supercars is especially impressive. This could significantly expand the brand’s audience among power car enthusiasts.
