A New Leader Emerges Among Compact Cars at the Nürburgring

BMW M2 CS Sets a Record at the Nürburgring

The new 2026 BMW M2 CS has become the fastest compact car on the Nürburgring Nordschleife track. It covered the 12.9-mile distance in 7 minutes 25.5 seconds, which is 8 seconds faster than the previous record.

The car is equipped with a twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine producing 523 horsepower and 649 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.7 seconds, and the top speed is 303 km/h.

“This is an impressive result that confirms the high dynamic characteristics of the M2 CS,” noted BMW.

Technical Features

The starting price for the new model is $98,600, and with additional costs, the total may exceed $99,775. The model’s release is scheduled for summer 2026.

This result is especially impressive considering that the previous record for compact cars was set only in April 2023. BMW has demonstrated significant progress in the dynamic characteristics of its sports models, which could affect competition in the segment.
