Special version of the Toyota Crown Estate with a matte finish
Toyota has introduced a limited series of the Crown Estate in a matte finish. This version features a gray matte body color, black trim elements, and golden metal accents in the interior. The car is only available as a hybrid with a power output of 302 hp and a starting price of $61,600. However, this model is not planned for sale outside of Japan.
Despite the unconventional design, which resembles a raised station wagon, the matte-finished Crown Estate looks quite stylish. The manufacturer claims that the special TM Coat finish protects the paint from scratches and dirt, although it needs to be renewed approximately once a year.
Design details and technical features
The package includes 21-inch matte black wheels with red calipers, as well as black leather in the interior with golden inserts. A special plaque with the inscription “Matte Metal The Limited” is placed on the instrument panel.
“Many enthusiasts would agree that matte paints, when applied correctly, look fantastic. However, they usually require a lot of maintenance to preserve their appearance.”
The car is offered exclusively in a hybrid version with a 2.5-liter engine and two electric motors. Interestingly, similar matte versions have already appeared in other Toyota models, but the Crown Estate has received the most refined execution.
Although matte finishes remain a niche product, they continue to attract the attention of premium design fans. At the same time, such cars require more meticulous care, which can be an obstacle for the mass buyer. However, for the Japanese market, where exclusivity is valued, this version could become a popular choice.
