by Opel Introduces Powerful Electric Grandland with All-Wheel Drive
Opel has introduced an updated version of its electric crossover Grandland with an all-wheel drive system. The model is equipped with two electric motors – a 210-horsepower one at the front and a 111-horsepower one at the rear, which together provide 321 hp and 509 Nm of torque. This setup allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.
The car received a standard 73 kWh battery, which provides a range of 500 km according to the WLTP cycle. Drivers can choose between four driving modes: Eco, Normal, AWD, and Sport, which affect the operation of the transmission, steering, and accelerator pedal.
Updated Design and Technical Features
Externally, the Grandland Electric AWD received minor but functional changes: sportier bumpers with carbon inserts, new 20-inch wheels, and optimized aerodynamics (drag coefficient of 0.278 Cd). The rear is now adorned with a raised “Grandland” inscription instead of a chrome emblem.
Surprisingly, Opel decided not to use the GSe emblem for this version, despite it being more powerful than previous models with this designation
The interior has remained virtually unchanged, except for new color solutions for the Intelli-seats. The model will be available on European and UK markets under the Opel or Vauxhall brands, respectively. Exact release dates and prices have not yet been announced, but sales in the UK will start this autumn.
Interestingly, despite significant technical improvements, the new Grandland Electric AWD did not receive the GSe sport index, which was previously used for more powerful versions. This may indicate a change in the brand’s marketing strategy regarding the positioning of its electric models.
