An open-air museum of Soviet cars found in Dnipropetrovsk region (photo)

Amidst the grass and rust, on the outskirts of Pidhorodne (Dnipropetrovsk region), stands an entire collection of rare cars from the USSR era. Here are Moskviches from the 1950s, old VAZes, “Zaporozhets” and GAZes that once plied the roads of the Union.

Now they look sad: burnt-out varnish, punctured wheels, faded enamel… But despite this, each car is a piece of history. As locals tell, the owners of this improvised museum-junkyard saved the cars from being scrapped.

One wants to believe that someday these iron witnesses of the past will get a second life — not in a scrapyard, but on restoration stands and exhibitions, where they will shine with chrome once again.
