Key Update Highlights
Testing and Exterior
The third generation of the Range Rover Sport still feels new, although it was introduced back in 2022. Therefore, it’s not surprising that a prototype of the updated version was recently spotted during testing near the Nürburgring.
The car, camouflaged in black and white wrap, has a somewhat updated front end with a modified radiator grille. A sportier central opening is also noticeable, equipped with new external elements with horizontal ribs.

The rest of the design remains virtually unchanged, but the updated crossover has gained a sportier rear appearance with a centrally located dual exhaust system. It is complemented by a new rear bumper with an integrated diffuser and a lower spoiler.
Expected Changes and Specifications
These updates are relatively minor, but the production model may include additional changes, such as updated wheels and modified lighting units. It is not yet clear whether there will be significant changes to the interior.
The current Range Rover Sport SV is equipped with a 4.4-liter bi-turbo V8 engine that produces 626 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. This configuration allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, with a top speed of 180 mph.
Release Prospects and Electric Version
Currently, there is little information about the high-performance crossover, but it is expected to debut in late 2026 or in 2027. This means it could appear around the same time or slightly later than the electric version of the Range Rover Sport.
Little has been heard about the electric model lately, but over a year ago, spy photos captured an unmasked prototype. It will likely use the same powertrain as the Range Rover Electric, which will have a 117 kWh battery pack, as well as an all-wheel drive system with two motors producing 542 horsepower and 849 Nm of torque.
The updates to the Range Rover Sport SV reflect the general trend of automakers towards gradually improving models without waiting for a full generation update. This helps maintain interest in the car and meet market demands. Particularly interesting is the fact that the update of the high-performance version may coincide with the appearance of the electric variant, indicating the parallel development of different types of powertrains within the same model line.
