This Carbon Roadster Pays Tribute to the 1930s Ford Style

Special SP40 Automobile

The amazing model you see is called the SP40. Although its name might sound like something from the Ferrari Special Projects catalog, this car comes from a completely different world.

It was created by the company Iconic Auto Sports as a restomod speedster that pays tribute to the 1934 Ford Model 40, reinterpreted through modern engineering and an individual approach.

Technical Features

The basis of the SP40 is a specially developed tubular space frame, created by Argentine engineer Pedro Campo. It is fitted with a Ford 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine, which produces over 480 horsepower and is paired with a five-speed manual transmission.

Thanks to the low profile of the SP40 and the fact that its entire body is made of carbon fiber, the car turned out to be very light. Its weight is only 1190 kg, and the independent double-wishbone suspension combined with adjustable shock absorbers is designed to provide excellent handling characteristics.

The braking system is represented by Brembo discs on all four wheels.

Individuality and Design

The shown specimen has a restrained black color, however, the Argentine company notes that every SP40 will be built taking into account the exact preferences of its owner. This means that no two cars will look the same.

So far, only a few photos of the interior have been released, but they show an interior rich in leather, deep bucket seats, and wooden details on the dashboard. As with the exterior, the interior can be customized with various materials, allowing buyers to create an atmosphere that matches their tastes.

Uniqueness in the Market

Although more and more expensive, limited series from small brands are appearing on the market, the SP40 is not like anything seen before. It is as low as a retro roadster, but thanks to the streamlined carbon fiber body, it looks much more premium. It also features modern influences, including round LED headlights.

Information on the cost of the SP40 is not yet available, but the car is available in the United States through the Iconic Auto Sports representative office in Miami, Florida.

The automotive industry continues to amaze with the combination of retro style and modern technology, and the SP40 is a vivid example of this trend. Its lightness, powerful engine, and the possibility of complete personalization make it attractive to collectors looking for unique solutions. Similar projects demonstrate how classic forms can be revived with the help of innovative materials and engineering solutions, while preserving the spirit of the original.
