Oscar Mayer is Looking for Drivers for the Legendary Wienermobile
If you love cars, hot dogs, and the open road, and are also a recent college graduate facing the job market, Oscar Mayer has a tasty offer for you. The company is accepting applications for the next class of “Hotdoggers” — official representatives who will drive the Wienermobile across the United States throughout 2026. This one-year paid job involves travel and content creation.
What is the “Hotdogger” Program?
The Wienermobile itself appeared back in 1936, but the driver program only started in 1988. It offers a small group of applicants the chance to become traveling brand ambassadors behind the wheel of one of America’s most recognizable vehicles.
Job Duties and Conditions
As stated on the Kraft Heinz careers page, the one-year tour begins with two weeks of “intensive onboarding and relevant training.” Then, “Hotdoggers” receive training, and upon completion of the tour — access to opportunities within the broader Kraft Heinz ecosystem.
Drivers are not assigned to one region. On the contrary, they swap routes and partners halfway through the tour, visiting over 30 states and hundreds of local events. Driving the vehicle is only part of the job. The team is also responsible for content creation, social media posts, videos, photoshoots, and interacting with the public, not to mention occasional TV or radio appearances.
Who Can Become a “Hotdogger”?
Oscar Mayer is looking for “communicative, creative, friendly, and energetic” recent graduates, preferably with a background in public relations, marketing, or communications, who are ready to spend a year as a brand mascot on wheels. Good communication skills, time management abilities, and working knowledge of social media are required. Travel experience or working with people will be an advantage, but the main thing is the willingness to smile throughout a 12-month journey in a fiberglass hot dog.
Contest Details and the Vehicle
Applications are accepted until January 31, 2026. Competition is always high — over 5,000 applications are received annually, but only 12 lucky individuals will get a seat behind the wheel of the giant hot dog.
The current model, 27 feet (8.2 meters) long, is mounted on a truck chassis with a GM V8 engine. Its distinctive body, shaped like a hot dog in a bun, is made of fiberglass.
Oscar Mayer maintains a fleet of six active Wienermobiles. This year, they made headlines after participating in friendly races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Shortly after, one of them appeared in a Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid advertisement, driven by a dog.
This job is a vivid example of how traditional brands use creative approaches for marketing and audience engagement. Traveling across the country, “Hotdoggers” not only advertise products but become living symbols of the brand, creating unforgettable impressions for thousands of people. Such a program also demonstrates the growing trend of combining work with travel and digital content creation, which is particularly appealing to young people. For many graduates, this can become a unique career start, providing not only work experience at a large company but also incredible life memories.
