Affordable Skoda Electric Car Resembles a Jeep Off-Roader

New Skoda Epiq Electric Crossover Prepares for Premiere

The Volkswagen Group is actively working on creating affordable electric vehicles, and one of the most anticipated new products will be the compact Skoda Epiq electric crossover. This model was recently spotted during road tests, indicating an active phase of preparation for launch into series production.

The car, which will debut this year, is positioned as an electric alternative to the Kamiq model and will become the most affordable electric crossover in the brand’s lineup. It will be built on the updated modular MEB+ platform.

Design and Exterior

The production version almost completely replicates the concept shown at the motor show in Munich last year. The car is executed in the signature Modern Solid style, characterized by clear lines and a robust appearance.

Among the key design elements are:

Dimensions and Platform

The new “urban SUV” will have a length of approximately 4.16 meters and a wheelbase of about 2.6 meters. In terms of its parameters and platform, the Skoda Epiq will be an analogue of the upcoming Volkswagen ID. Cross, highlighting the strategy of shared technology use within the group.

Technical Specifications and Range

The main power unit for the Epiq will likely be a front electric motor with a power of about 208 horsepower. The electric car will receive a 52 kWh battery pack made of nickel-manganese-cobalt alloy (NMC).

The expected range on a single charge will be approximately 425 kilometers according to the WLTP standard. The possibility of a modification with a more powerful 223 hp engine is also being considered. The model will support DC fast charging with a power of up to 130 kW, allowing for quick energy replenishment.

Interior and Equipment

Although interior details are not yet fully revealed, it is known that the interior will be similar to that of the Volkswagen ID. Polo. The instrument layout will include:

  • A 10.25-inch digital instrument panel.
  • A 13-inch central touchscreen for the infotainment system.

Designers seem to be retaining a certain number of physical buttons for controlling basic functions, as well as introducing a new steering wheel design.

Production and Price

Production of the new Skoda Epiq electric crossover will be established in Spain. The brand has already announced an aggressive pricing policy: the starting price of the model in Europe will be around 26,000 euros. This price makes the electric car accessible to a wide range of buyers and competitive compared to similar fuel-powered models.

The appearance of the Skoda Epiq is an important step for the brand and the entire Volkswagen Group in the fight for the affordable electric vehicle market. The success of this model may largely depend on the precise work of marketers and the final balance of price, quality, and characteristics offered by the car. Given the stated range and charging speed, the Epiq has every chance of becoming a popular choice for city dwellers and those looking for their first electric model. Production in Spain could also contribute to optimizing logistics and costs for the European market.
