Honda’s New Emblem Symbolizes the Shift to Electric Vehicles
Honda is preparing for a significant change in its visual identity, which will accompany its active development in the electric vehicle sector. The automaker has announced the introduction of an updated emblem that will appear on its electrified models, as well as in dealerships and motorsports.
Updated Frameless Logo
The classic “H” symbol has been reinterpreted and given a simplified design without an outer frame. This new badge will debut on production cars starting in 2027. It will initially appear on the 0 Series electric models and on 13 new generations of hybrids.
First Models with the New Badge
The new logo was first presented on the 0 Series concept cars in early 2024. The first production model to receive the updated emblem will be the 0 SUV electric off-roader, production of which is planned in Ohio, USA. Following it, the release of the 0 Saloon sedan is expected, which will also feature an illuminated badge. The third model will be the compact 0 Alpha SUV crossover, developed for the global market with a special focus on Japan and India.
The new version, inspired by the image of two outstretched hands, is meant to symbolize the brand’s “second founding” during a period of transformation.
Hybrids Will Also Receive the New Emblem
Alongside fully electric models, Honda has confirmed that the new emblem will also appear on a series of new hybrids. Between 2027 and 2031, the company plans to release 13 new cars with an updated version of the e:HEV hybrid system. The updated system promises better efficiency, more powerful performance, and tighter integration of components.

Gradual Implementation of the New Branding
This means that models such as the Prelude coupe and the upcoming Super-One hatchback could be among the last new models with the old emblem, unless Honda decides to install the new badge during future updates. The company confirmed that the new branding will be “gradually implemented on automotive models and in other business areas,” including dealerships, communication initiatives, and motorsports.
Logo History and Its Significance
The “H” badge has served as Honda’s corporate symbol since 1963. During this time, it has undergone redesigns in 1969, 1981, 1991, and 2001. The latest design change reflects the deep transformation of the brand, which is reorienting itself towards a future where electrification plays a key role. This is not just an update of appearance, but a signal of a change in philosophy and technological direction for one of the world’s most famous automakers. The transition to the new emblem, parallel to the large-scale launch of electric and hybrid models, indicates that Honda is seriously committed to competing in the electric vehicle market, combining tradition with innovation.
