New Škoda Flagship Electric Car Receives Official Name
Škoda has finally announced the name of its long-awaited seven-seat electric SUV. The new flagship will be called Peaq, which is meant to emphasize its position at the top of the brand’s model lineup. The car will debut in the summer of 2026 as the largest and most ambitious electric vehicle from the brand to date.
Key Features of the Future Newcomer
Successor to a Stylish Concept
The stylish Vision 7S concept, presented in 2022, will serve as the basis for the production Peaq. The car will be slightly toned down for production and aimed at families seeking space, comfort, and zero emissions without switching to premium brands. It can be seen as an electric analogue to the Kodiaq, but with a smoother, quieter ride and more digital equipment.
Škoda acknowledges that Peaq will be the brand’s most expensive model to date, positioned above the Enyaq, but it will still be marketed as a value-for-money choice compared to competitors.
Design and Dimensions
The Vision 7S was the first full embodiment of Škoda’s Modern Solid design language. Peaq is expected to follow this direction, even though the brand has so far only shown the badge and a few dark teasers. This means a robust, confident shape, a clean front Tech Deck instead of a traditional radiator grille, hidden door handles, and distinctive T-shaped light signatures at the front and rear.
Heavily camouflaged prototypes have already been spotted during testing at the Nürburgring. Although the camouflage hid details, the car’s proportions were clear. By European standards, it is a large car, about 5 meters long, with three rows of seats and a significant road presence.
Technical Basis and Specifications
Technically, Peaq will be built on the Volkswagen Group’s modular MEB platform, used by models such as the smaller Enyaq, VW ID. Buzz, and ID.7. The original concept was equipped with an 89 kWh battery and promised a range of over 600 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. The production version is expected to come close to these figures.
Rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions with dual motors are likely. The power of the faster model could be around 340 horsepower. Škoda could theoretically offer a base rear-wheel-drive model, as Volkswagen does with the ID. Buzz in Europe.
Competitive Market and Positioning
The new Peaq will enter a competitive market, where its main rivals will be the Kia EV9, Volvo EX90, and Hyundai Ioniq 9. Despite its flagship status and the highest price in Škoda’s lineup, the brand plans to offer it as a value-for-money alternative to the mentioned models, maintaining the traditional value proposition of the Czech marque.
New Teasers and Spy Shots of the Škoda Peaq
As the sales launch approaches, a more active campaign to reveal details is expected. The manufacturer will gradually showcase the design, interior, and technical features of its new electric family SUV, which is designed to strengthen the brand’s position in the electric vehicle market.
The arrival of the Škoda Peaq in 2026 could significantly enliven the segment of large family electric vehicles, offering buyers an additional choice from a proven European manufacturer. The success of this model will depend not only on technical specifications and design but also on the final pricing policy, as the price-to-quality ratio has always been a key advantage of Škoda. The planned model launch in the summer of 2026 gives the brand time for final refinements and adaptation to the fast-changing electric vehicle market.
