The Fastest Chase of the Year in Massachusetts
According to MassLive, the incident occurred on November 27, 2025, and turned out to be the fastest recorded police pursuit of the year. The Massachusetts State Police spotted a black Dodge Challenger speeding along I-84 near the Connecticut border. Initially, patrol officers recorded the car’s speed at about 129 km/h, which was already significantly above the flow of traffic. But the situation quickly escalated.

As soon as the police began the pursuit, the driver reportedly accelerated sharply, aggressively maneuvering through traffic and ignoring flashing lights. The speed increased to 193 km/h and then reached an astonishing 266 km/h in a zone with a limit of 105 km/h. This is nearly three times the legal limit. The driver exited the highway onto Route 12 in Auburn, and the police ended the pursuit. Only afterward did the car crash on Central Street.
Driver Fled but Was Apprehended
Police report that two passengers left the scene on foot, triggering a search involving local police, canine units, and air support from the Massachusetts State Police. Authorities later identified and arrested the driver—36-year-old Eliseo Alarcon from Alabama.
He was charged with several offenses, including reckless driving, failure to stop for police, and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. The next day, he pleaded not guilty. He was due to appear in court on February 18 but failed to show up. A warrant has now been issued for his arrest.
Statistics on Speeding Violations in the State
It is worth noting that, according to MassDOT, Alarcon is far from the only one who likes to step on the gas. State data shows that at least six other drivers were recorded at speeds of 241 km/h during the year, mostly on highways with a limit of 105 km/h. One even reached such speed in a zone with a limit of 89 km/h.
This case is a vivid example of how reckless driving can lead to serious consequences. Despite the police ending the pursuit, the driver could not handle the vehicle at high speed. His attempt to escape responsibility only worsened the situation, adding a failure to appear in court to the list of charges. Statistics show that speeding is a widespread problem in Massachusetts, and authorities continue to combat this phenomenon using various methods, including aerial surveillance and canine units.
