One of the rarest Brabus projects from the late 1990s has been put up for auction by RM Sotheby’s. A 1999 Mercedes-Benz SL Brabus 7.3S V12, which has covered less than 47,000 km in over a quarter of a century, has appeared at auction. The estimated value of the car is between 450,000 and 500,000 euros. Classic Driver reports on this.

The model is considered one of the most extreme versions of the legendary Mercedes-Benz R129 roadster and was produced in a very limited series from 1995 to 2001.

At the base of the car is the Mercedes-Benz SL 600, which was sent to Brabus for complete modification after assembly at the factory in Sindelfingen.

Under the hood is a naturally aspirated 7.3-liter V12 engine of the M120 series, refined by Brabus specialists. The unit’s power reaches 582 hp. To work with such an engine, the tuners reinforced the 5-speed automatic transmission and modernized the chassis.

Among the car’s features:

  • top speed of 304 km/h;
  • Brabus sports suspension;
  • Alcon braking system with eight-piston calipers;
  • sports exhaust system;
  • signature Brabus Monoblock IV wheels;
  • speedometer marked up to 330 km/h.

This roadster was purchased new by a Greek citizen residing in the United Kingdom. Later, the car moved to Monaco, where it remained for many years. In 2021, the car was bought by a new owner who serviced it at the official Brabus Monaco center.

At the time of preparation for the auction, the car’s mileage was less than 47,000 km. Along with the car, the buyer will receive a Brabus certificate of authenticity confirming the originality of the modifications.

Due to its rarity, minimal mileage, and fully documented history, this Mercedes-Benz SL Brabus 7.3S V12 is considered one of the most desirable classic projects from the German atelier.
