Dodge has decided to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Charger model by introducing a new exclusive body color. This decision underscores the brand’s commitment to bold individual solutions and pays tribute to its own history.
New Shade: Purple Haze
The new color is named Purple Haze. It is available exclusively for the 2027 Dodge Charger models. The cost of the option is $795. The company has already started accepting orders for cars with this color.
According to the designers’ concept, the paint has a “maximum visual effect.” It contains a high-gloss clear coat, allowing the color to change under bright sunlight. In the shade, it becomes a deep and rich purple.
Legacy of Bold Colors
Dodge emphasizes that Purple Haze is a natural continuation of their “heritage of bold colors.” Back in 1969, the company introduced its High Impact program, which gave the world iconic shades such as Go Mango, Top Banana, and Sublime. Purple is generally a signature color for the brand, as variations from Plum Crazy and In-Violet to Hellraisin have been released before.
In the full-size car segment, color choice matters almost three times more than the industry average. For the Dodge Charger, it is one of the three most important factors when purchasing.
Color Statistics in the Market
A recent study confirms that sports cars most often feature bright colors. Last year, 15.5% of such cars were blue, and 10.8% were red. The share of purple was only 1.8%. For comparison, 63.6% of all sports cars were painted in shades of gray: white, black, gray, or silver.
Other Interior Innovations
In addition to the new exterior color, Dodge has also updated the interior of the 2027 Charger. New leather sport seats in Petrol Blue have appeared. They feature “Digital Slash” perforation and red contrast stitching. Additionally, buyers will be able to order seat belts in a new Demonic Red color.
The premiere of the new Purple Haze color will take place next month at the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals exhibition. This step once again emphasizes how important color is for muscle car buyers. In an environment where most cars on the roads are dull gray shades, Dodge is betting on bright individuality, bringing back the fashion for rich and bold colors that were the hallmark of American muscle cars in their golden era. This is not just paint, but a way to make a statement and highlight the car’s character.
