Dodge Compensates Charger Buyers with $10 Per Horsepower

Dodge Brings Back Power Dollars Promotion: $10 Per Horsepower Under the Hood

Dodge is reviving one of its most famous marketing promotions just as deliveries of new vehicles begin to ramp up. The manufacturer announced the return of the Power Dollars program, which provides buyers with a discount of $10 for every horsepower under the hood of eligible 2026 Dodge Charger models.

How the Discount Works and Who Can Use It

For Scat Pack buyers, this means a substantial discount of $5,500. According to Dodge, this lowers the vehicle’s price to below $49,500 before accounting for delivery fees, taxes, and charges. The promotion runs from July 9 to August 3, 2026, and applies exclusively to retail purchases of 2026 gasoline-powered Charger R/T, R/T Plus, Scat Pack, and Scat Pack Plus models equipped with the twin-turbo Hurricane Sixpack engine. It is important to note that customers who opt for leasing are not eligible for this promotion.

Those who choose the Charger R/T or Charger R/T Plus receive $4,200 under Power Dollars, as these vehicles have 420 horsepower (313 kW). The Scat Pack and Scat Pack Plus have 550 horsepower (410 kW), so buyers receive $5,500 under Power Dollars.

Management Comments and Model Practicality

Dodge CEO Matt McAlear noted that this incentive program is designed to make the brand’s sporty offerings more accessible. He emphasized that the Charger Scat Pack remains the most powerful vehicle on the market available for under $55,000, and thanks to the Power Dollars promotion, its effective price drops below the $49,500 mark.

The promotion also underscores Dodge’s renewed focus on the Hurricane engine lineup following the arrival of the six-cylinder Charger. The 2026 model is offered in both a two-door coupe and a four-door sedan, with standard all-wheel drive and a driver-selectable rear-wheel drive mode.

It is worth noting that both the four-door and two-door versions share the same roofline and interior space. This means adult passengers can sit comfortably in the rear even in the two-door version. Getting in and out is also not difficult thanks to a well-designed front seat folding mechanism. Both versions also feature a hatchback-style rear end. Less than a week ago, the author was able to fit an XXL-sized mountain bike into the trunk of one of these vehicles. This is an unassumingly practical muscle car, and now it has become even more accessible.

The return of Power Dollars is a strategic move by Dodge, which not only stimulates sales of new gasoline-powered Chargers but also clearly signals the brand’s intention to maintain its identity rooted in power and affordability. While the market gradually moves toward electrification, this promotion allows the company to emphasize that traditional internal combustion engines are still in demand and can be beneficial for the buyer. The combination of body practicality with a powerful engine and a substantial discount makes the 2026 Charger a very attractive proposition for those seeking a true American muscle car with modern technology and comfort.
