The sixth-generation Jeep Cherokee already seems to be living on borrowed time, but that doesn’t mean the company is giving up. Quite the opposite — a new teaser video has appeared for the upcoming Trailhawk version, which is set to be a real find for off-road enthusiasts.
Off-road capabilities
This version was officially announced back in June. The off-road-oriented variant has received the Trail Rated badge and has gone through
“the toughest tests”
to confirm its readiness for challenging conditions. In the short teaser, the crossover can be seen conquering sand dunes, climbing rocks, and even getting airborne at times. It looks truly convincing.

Design and protection
The camouflaged prototype doesn’t reveal many details, but the previous teaser image made it clear that the model will stand out with a gray front section and a unique front bumper. The latter will feature red tow hooks, body-color accents, and a more rugged look. In addition, the approach angle is expected to be significantly improved.
Hybrid powertrain
Under the hood, there will most likely be a hybrid system consisting of a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, a CVT, and a battery pack with a capacity of 1.08 kWh. In the regular version, such a setup produces a combined 210 horsepower (157 kW / 213 PS) and 230 lb-ft (312 Nm) of torque. Fuel economy is about 39 miles per gallon in the city, 35 miles per gallon on the highway, and 37 miles in combined driving.
Likely, the powertrain will carry over to the Trailhawk unchanged, but it will be complemented by a more advanced all-wheel-drive system with a low-range gear set. Underbody protection and off-road tires are also to be expected.

Such a move by Jeep looks entirely logical in the context of updating the model lineup. The Cherokee has long become a legend among compact SUVs, and returning to true off-road philosophy in the Trailhawk version could be a great way to end the current generation’s life cycle. Especially considering that modern buyers are increasingly paying attention not only to style and comfort, but also to the vehicle’s real capabilities beyond the asphalt. Hybrid technology combined with proven off-road solutions could make this Cherokee one of the most interesting in its segment before the model refresh.
