Acura NSX Roadster: a Movie Body on a 1991 Chassis
The basis of the Acura NSX Roadster was a production 1991 Acura NSX. The design was prepared by Acura’s studio in Los Angeles, while the build was handled by California-based Trans FX. After filming, the car was kept by Acura, which later showed it at the celebration of the NSX’s 35th anniversary.
The body of the Acura NSX Roadster was hand-made from resin and fiberglass, based on the 2011 NSX concept. The car is painted in Hot Rod Red, has a lowered suspension and wheels measuring 18 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear.
The Acura NSX Roadster has no roof, and its windshield is borrowed from a Chrysler PT Cruiser. Silver decorative elements are installed instead of headlights, while the rear LED strip does work. The STARK 33 license plates from the film have also been preserved.
Auction of Tony Stark’s Car: V6, Manual Transmission and Operating Restrictions
The Acura NSX Roadster retained a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter V6 VTEC, a five-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive. The dashboard remained from the donor car, while the seats were replaced with bucket seats. The odometer shows approximately 405,900 km.
Despite a working powertrain, the Acura NSX Roadster is not permitted to be used on public roads. The description mentions a fragile custom body, scratches on the bumpers, pillars and doors, paint cracks and wear in the interior.
