Audi fixes one of the most painful interior features in 2026 models

Audi updates for 2026

Audi is preparing a series of updates for the 2026 model range, which will affect the A5, A6, Q5, A6 e-tron, and Q6 e-tron. These are not just software or safety changes – the brand claims they will improve the comfort of driving popular models.

However, Audi has not yet announced whether these updates will be available to buyers in the USA, so the American market will remain unchanged.

Interior changes

The most important updates concern the interior. Like Volkswagen, Audi has recognized that customers did not appreciate the touch buttons on the steering wheel. Therefore, starting in 2026, all relevant models will receive a redesigned steering wheel with two physical scroll wheels, returning the tactile control that drivers have been missing.

Owners of the S5 and S6 e-tron will also receive a new Dynamic Plus driving mode. It will provide improved dynamics, allowing for controlled drift despite the quattro all-wheel drive system and vectoring braking.

For models on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), the regenerative braking system will be improved. Drivers will be able to use true one-pedal driving, smoothly stopping the car without using mechanical brakes.

Smart technologies

Audi is also implementing an enhanced driver assistance system for models on the PPE and PPC platforms. Starting next year, these cars will receive an autonomous lane change function: simply activate the turn signal, and the car will change lanes independently.

Following BMW’s example, Audi will introduce a learned parking function that allows the car to autonomously travel up to 200 meters on private property, replaying a saved route to or from a parking spot.

Additionally, starting next year, the new A6 will be equipped with matrix LED headlights and digital OLED taillights with configurable light signatures.

Additional features

Certain models will receive an option for a built-in camera installed at the base of the rearview mirror. The 4K camera records video while driving and parking, offering an alternative to external systems.

Audi has also added several mood scenarios that adjust interior lighting, sound, climate control, and massage functions. The updates have touched the built-in gaming system – controllers can now be connected via Bluetooth.

These changes demonstrate how Audi is responding to customer feedback by returning physical controls and improving electric models. The implementation of autonomous functions and interior enhancements underscore the brand’s commitment to combining traditional values with innovation, making their cars competitive in the premium transportation market.
