120 years ago Rolls-Royce won a race, and this Ghost Black Badge pays tribute

New Rolls-Royce Ghost Black Badge Tourist Trophy: A Tribute to the 1906 Victory

Rolls-Royce has introduced a special version of the Ghost Black Badge sedan, dedicated to the historic victory at the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy race in 1906. This edition is named Tourist Trophy and marks the 120th anniversary of Charles Rolls’ triumph.

120 years ago, Charles Rolls won the race in a Rolls-Royce Light 20 H.P. Now the company honors this event by releasing a limited edition of the Ghost Black Badge Tourist Trophy.

Design and Exterior

Inspired by the original racing car, this Ghost features a Dark Emerald body with a contrasting beige line on the hood. It is complemented by an Arctic White accent that reveals the number 4 on the front fenders. This number symbolizes Rolls’ starting position, as well as the four laps he completed in four hours and six minutes.

Interior and Unique Details

The interior has undergone more significant changes. It combines black and beige leather, complemented by Black Badge technical fiber, as well as beige contrasting stitching and piping. The ultra-luxurious sedan also features Mocassin lambswool carpeting and the outline of the Isle of Man Short Highroads Course embroidered with white thread, located between the rear seats.

Special touches do not stop there: the Ghost has unique ventilation grilles with engraving that references the racing car. This includes its registration number AX157, chassis number 26350B, the race date, and the coordinates of the finish line. The chassis number can also be seen on the illuminated sill plates, which state that the car is an “Homage to Chassis No. 26350B”.

Silver signatures and messages are also visible on the trim, although Rolls-Royce did not explain their meaning. However, the company noted that this is a “bespoke commission,” meaning the car likely exists as a one-off.

Technical Specifications

The Black Badge Ghost is powered by a 6.75-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine, producing 591 hp (441 kW / 600 PS) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. It works in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel-drive system.

This special edition not only honors a historic victory but also demonstrates Rolls-Royce’s mastery in creating unique automobiles. Every detail, from the body color to the engravings, is carefully thought out to convey the spirit of that era. Although the car is likely one of a kind, it highlights how the brand uses its rich history to create modern masterpieces. This approach allows buyers not just to own a luxury car but to acquire a piece of history, making each commission truly special.
