Acura Discontinues TLX Production
Sales of the TLX sedan in the US have fallen to a critically low level. In the first half of 2025, only 3,634 cars were sold, which is even worse than last year’s figure of 7,478 units. Although Acura cited factory retooling, it is obvious that the problem lies precisely in the lack of demand.
TLX production is being discontinued so the company can focus on modern trends, particularly on crossovers like the new ADX.
“The award-winning Integra will continue Acura’s sports heritage in the sedan segment”
– the company noted. Although over a million TL/TLX models have been sold over 30 years, the market has shifted sharply in favor of SUVs in recent years.
The final 2025 version of the TLX offered two engine options: a 2.0-liter turbocharged (272 hp) in the base trim for $45,400 and a more powerful 3.0-liter V6 (355 hp) in the Type S version for $58,050. Despite its technical advantages, the model no longer meets the expectations of the majority of buyers, who prefer taller vehicles. This confirms the general trend of recent years, where traditional sedans are gradually giving way to crossovers in most price categories.
