Airport Seeks New Driver After Accident with Million-Dollar Damages

Unusual Incident in Boston: Van Crashes into Airplane

A strange incident occurred at Boston’s Logan Airport – a van from the catering company LSG Sky Chefs crashed into the lower part of a parked Republic Airways airplane. This is particularly unusual because the area where the incident occurred is closed to any vehicles. An investigation is currently underway to determine if the accident happened due to the driver’s health problems.

Collisions between ground vehicles and airplanes are a rare occurrence. In this case, the plane was parked when the van rammed its fuselage. The photo shows serious damage: dents, scratches, and even holes in the hull, through which internal components are visible. The roof of the van was also severely damaged.

An American Eagle/Republic Airways Embraer E175LR was damaged after a collision with a ground vehicle at Boston’s Logan Airport. The incident occurred on Sunday morning when a catering van crashed into the Republic Airways aircraft.

A representative of LSG Sky Chefs confirmed the fact of the accident but did not specify the causes. The company stated that it is conducting an investigation together with the airport. Former Massport director Tom Kinton noted that it is necessary to find out if the driver had a medical emergency or if the van had a technical malfunction.

Such incidents remind us of the importance of following safety rules on airport grounds. Fortunately, there were no casualties in this case, but repairing the aircraft will be expensive. This could also affect the flight schedule, as the damaged Embraer E175LR will require a long time to restore.
