Alpha-N Breathes Power into a Model BMW M Overlooked

Upgrades for the Iconic Coupe

The second-generation BMW M2 may offer more performance than its predecessor, but in terms of design, the original model surpasses the modern car in every aspect. Now, thanks to Alpha-N, the original M2 can look even more aggressive, offering more choice to those not interested in buying parts directly from M Performance.

Focus on Carbon and Track

Alpha-N already sells tuning for the current M2 and has turned its attention to the F87 M2 Competition for its latest project, named Alpha-N Corse. For this model, a whole range of carbon fiber parts is now available, developed with a primary focus on track performance but still suitable for use on public roads.

BMW believes $28,000 is worth it to make your M2 faster without adding power.

Detailing the Upgrades

A sharp new splitter is installed at the front, and the original grille inserts have been replaced with new matte carbon fiber elements. A fully carbon hood with noticeable ventilation openings for better engine bay cooling has also been developed for the car. Adding to this hood are carbon deflectors on the front fenders, likely inspired by those installed on the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Continuation of Modifications

The enhancements continue along the sides with available side skirt extensions. Perhaps the biggest change is the use of two different swan-neck-style rear wings. BMW M2 owners wishing to combine an aggressive look with improved handling can also order TTX coilovers from Ohlins, which offer independent rebound and compression adjustment.

Worldwide Availability

If you own an F87 M2 Competition and like what you see, you’ll be pleased to know that you don’t have to live in Germany, where Alpha-N is based, to order these parts. In fact, they are available throughout the USA, Canada, and South America thanks to the distributor IND Distribution.

The Cost of High Technology

The upgrades are not cheap. For example, the carbon fiber hood costs a whopping €3,950 (approximately $4,650), the smaller swan-neck wing is €3,790 (approximately $4,460), the front deflectors are €3,199 (approximately $3,760) per pair, the carbon grilles (‘kidneys’) are €995 (approximately $1,170), the front splitter is €1,599 (approximately $1,880), and the Ohlins coilovers are €3,945 (approximately $4,640).

The prices clearly demonstrate that the segment of high-quality tuning for iconic sports cars remains a niche for experienced enthusiasts who value materials, technology, and exclusivity. The demand for parts for the previous-generation model underscores its enduring popularity and status among brand fans, often sparking debates about whether newer models are capable of replicating the same magic. The availability of such kits in North and South America expands the geography of true fans willing to invest in the uniqueness of their car.
