Revival of a Legend: A New Look at the Alfa Romeo Brera
Alfa Romeo is currently experiencing challenging times with sales, but no one doubts the skill of Italian designers. One of the brightest models of the modern era was the Brera, produced from 2005 to 2010 in coupe and spyder body styles. Over time, it has been almost forgotten, but what if the Brera were revived as a powerful sports car?
These renders showcase exactly such a concept. They draw inspiration from the original Brera’s design but make it significantly more aggressive and ideal for the role of a flagship model positioned below the ultra-exclusive 33 Stradale supercar.
Design and Features of the New Brera
The project’s author is designer Memola Luigi, who previously created the stunning Alfa Romeo LEA concept in 2019. His new version of the Brera retains the general silhouette of the original but makes the car lower and wider, drastically changing the proportions.
The front of the car features six round light elements, a massive carbon fiber splitter, and large air intakes. The classic Scudetto grille is executed in a modern style, and bold lines appear on the hood. The car sits on gold alloy wheels with round spokes and has carbon fiber side skirts. Such a car could be the perfect Italian answer to the Aston Martin Vantage.
Six round headlights at the front, a massive carbon fiber splitter, and large air intakes create an aggressive look.
Rear End and Prospects
The rear of the car is equally impressive: a small triangular window, flattened taillights, an aggressive diffuser, and four exhaust pipes. The central brake light resembles those on Formula 1 cars. Although the placement of the lights directly into the body raises questions, the rest of the design is nearly flawless.
Despite the impressive appearance of this concept, Alfa Romeo is not officially working on a successor to the Brera. However, last year rumors emerged that Maserati might release a limited edition model based on the GranTurismo with the most powerful internal combustion engine since the MC12. According to the same reports, a version under the Alfa Romeo brand could also enter the market.
This project demonstrates the potential hidden in Alfa Romeo’s design. Even if series production of such a model remains questionable, the very fact that these renders exist indicates that the idea of a sports coupe from the Italian brand remains relevant. At a time when Alfa Romeo is trying to find its place in the market, a return to its roots with the creation of an emotional and powerful car could be the right move. Collaboration with Maserati and the use of shared platforms opens up real opportunities to bring such ambitious projects to life, even if they are limited to small series.
