Alpina, owned by BMW, hints at a new product

The German automaker BMW, which will fully control the Alpina brand from the beginning of 2026, has announced the debut of a new special car for the US and Canadian markets. The premiere of the limited series will take place at the end of this week at the Amelia Concours d’Elegance event.

What is known about the new product

So far, only one darkened teaser image has been published. It clearly shows a model based on the current BMW X7, but with characteristic enhancements from Alpina. Experts suggest that this is most likely a special version of the existing XB7 model, which may differ in exclusive paintwork or unique equipment, rather than a completely new development.

Launching at the Amelia Concours d’Elegance, only one teaser image of the new model has been published.

The car is expected to be fast and expensive. The current Alpina XB7 is equipped with a 4.4-liter bi-turbo V8 engine producing 613 hp and 800 Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.9 seconds. In the US, this model starts at $156,000.

BMW Anniversaries at Amelia Island

The presentation of the new Alpina is not the only event BMW is preparing for Amelia Island. The manufacturer will also celebrate a number of significant anniversaries of its models:

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the M3, the BMW Classic USA division has prepared a collection including one car from each of the six generations of this legendary model: from the E30 to the modern G80. Among the exhibits will be rare versions such as the E36 M3 Lightweight, the racing E46 M3 GTR, and the limited edition E92 M3 Lime Rock Park Edition, which was released for the American market with a run of only 200 units.

The full acquisition of Alpina by BMW opens a new chapter for both brands, where the traditions of handcrafted refinement and exclusivity are combined with the capabilities of a global corporation. The debut of the new model at the prestigious concours d’elegance underscores its status character. The parallel celebration of anniversaries of key models in BMW’s history at the same event demonstrates the brand’s strategy aimed at simultaneously honoring heritage and presenting the future, now with an expanded portfolio that includes Alpina as a separate, highly positioned marque.
