New electric Alpine A390: sporty and practical
The Alpine brand, owned by Renault Group, has unveiled the production version of the electric A390—a sporty fastback that combines dynamics with everyday practicality. The model inherits design traits from the legendary A110 but features a more spacious five-door layout.
The manufacturer retained the low profile and aerodynamic shapes, though some experimental concept elements were removed for the production version. Two trim levels are available—GT and GTS—which differ in wheels, emblems, and some technical specifications.
Technical features
The heart of the A390 is its three electric motors: one at the front and two at the rear, which, along with the torque vectoring system, are designed to ensure handling despite the weight. The base GT version delivers 396 hp, while the top-tier GTS produces 463 hp. The GTS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
“This isn’t just another electric crossover—we wanted to create a car that’s as thrilling as our sports models but with greater comfort,” Alpine engineers note.
The 89 kWh battery provides a range of up to 555 km according to the WLTP standard. There’s also a temporary power boost function lasting 10 seconds, which can be useful for overtaking.
Interior and practicality
The A390’s cabin features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch central display. The top-tier GTS trim includes Sabelt bucket seats with Nappa leather and a 13-speaker Devialet audio system. The trunk capacity is 532 liters, making the model quite practical for daily use.
The A390 is expected to go on sale in Europe by late 2025. The estimated starting price in the UK is around £60,000 for the base version. However, its entry into the US market remains uncertain due to potential tariff restrictions.
During the presentation, a teaser of the upcoming electric version of the A110 was also shown, which will retain the original’s sporty character but feature a modern powertrain. Its debut is expected in 2026.
