An electric version of the Nissan Leaf from Mitsubishi will arrive in North America in the summer of 2026.
The company plans to deepen cooperation with Nissan in the field of electric vehicles.
Another electric model, developed by Foxconn, will appear in Australia in the second half of 2026.
Mitsubishi is preparing to launch two new electric vehicles at once, which are set to debut in the second half of 2026 for different markets. The first is a crossover inspired by the future Nissan Leaf, intended for North America. The second is a joint development with Foxconn, aimed at the Australian market.
The Leaf-based crossover is expected to arrive at dealers in the US and Canada by the summer of 2026. As seen in the teasers, it will inherit the design of the new Nissan model, including the distinctive LED headlights and the sloping roofline. It is not yet known if there will be significant differences between the Mitsubishi and Nissan versions, aside from the logos.
Key Specifications of the Leaf-based Electric Vehicle
The new car will use the CMF-EV platform, like the future Nissan Leaf, with a single electric motor. Although it will not get all-wheel drive, Mitsubishi promises a range of over 300 miles (482 km) and an NACS charging port.
In turn, Mitsubishi is helping Nissan with the development of a hybrid version of the Nissan Rogue (X-Trail), which will be released in 2026 as a modified version of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. This is part of the strategy to strengthen the partnership between the companies through electric vehicles.

In addition to expanding its electric vehicle lineup, the Mitsubishi Momentum 2030 plan involves updating the dealer network in North America to boost sales.
New Electric Vehicle from Foxtron for Australia
Mitsubishi has signed an agreement with Foxtron, a subsidiary of Foxconn, for the development of a new electric car. Production will take place at Yulon Motor plants in Taiwan.
This model, whose name has not yet been disclosed, will appear in Australia and New Zealand in the second half of 2026. The manufacturer promises high performance and a modern multimedia system. It will likely be an adapted version of the 2022 Foxtron Model B concept.
Although the deal is almost complete, both companies continue to discuss the details. Mitsubishi’s overall strategy includes in-house developments for ASEAN, models based on Renault for Europe, and joint projects with Nissan for North America.
