Mercedes-AMG is preparing a new CLA 45 in a wagon body
Mercedes-AMG is expanding the CLA 45 lineup by adding a wagon to it. These are the first spy photos of the hot version of the model, which is likely to become part of the brand’s electric lineup. Photos of the sedan have appeared before, but the wagon in the AMG version is shown for the first time.
The car is built on a universal platform that supports both traditional engines and electric drive. The most powerful versions of the CLA 45 will receive three electric motors with a combined output of over 500 hp. Externally, the wagon is distinguished by an active spoiler that extends at high speeds.
Technical Features
In addition to the electric drive, AMG is also preparing versions with internal combustion engines. However, as sources report, the company may abandon the 2.0-liter M139 engine in favor of other solutions. This could mean that the next CLA 45 will get a modified version of the power unit used in the regular CLA models.
The photos also confirm that the wagon will have powerful brakes with monoblock calipers and alloy wheels. The lack of exhaust pipes indicates that the photo shows the electric version. At the same time, the active spoiler on the rear door, although smaller than that of the sedan, emphasizes the sporty character of the car.
The market for sports wagons is undergoing changes, and Mercedes-AMG seems to be trying to establish itself in this segment. Given the growing popularity of electric vehicles, the appearance of a powerful CLA 45 in a wagon body could become an interesting alternative for fans of dynamic driving.
