Mercedes-AMG is Preparing a Series of Novelties, Including the Rare CLE 63 and Electric Models
Despite active development of electric vehicles, Mercedes-AMG is also focusing on powerful internal combustion engines. One of the most anticipated novelties is expected to be the limited series of the CLE 63 sports coupe.
Exclusive and Powerful CLE 63
According to reports, only 30 units of the Mercedes-AMG CLE 63 will be produced worldwide. Each car will receive a new V8 engine with a flat-plane crankshaft, whose power, according to sources, will be about 646 horsepower. This figure may vary slightly depending on the measurement system, but the essence remains unchanged — it will be a very powerful machine.
Enthusiasts will be thrilled by its debut after the experiment with the four-cylinder C63 failed.
This engine, already used in the latest S-Class, will not be limited to the CLE. It is expected to appear in other future AMG models, including the next generation of the C 63 sedan and the new two-door GT Black Series coupe.
AMG’s Electric Future
Parallel to the development of traditional engines, AMG is actively working on electrification. Dealers have been briefed on three future electric models of the GT series. These will include:
It is stated that these cars will be fast and will have a significant range: about 400 miles for the coupe and at least 300 miles for the crossovers. However, some dealers express concern that three similar electric AMGs could oversaturate the market and dilute the brand’s uniqueness.
Return of the Iconic G-Class Cabriolet
Another major news is the return of the G-Class cabriolet after a thirty-year hiatus. Unlike the electric models, the G 63 Cabriolet will retain a gasoline engine — the powerful twin-turbo V8 from the current G 63 model, but will receive a fabric roof. This model will finally become available to buyers in the USA.
All dealers need to do to convince clients that AMG is still cool is to show them the G-Class Cabriolet.
Production of the G-Cabriolet is planned to start in 2027, and the American market will be one of the key ones. This is part of the overall strategy, as it is North America, against the backdrop of stagnating demand in China, that Mercedes-AMG sees as the main growth driver in the coming years.
The presented plans demonstrate Mercedes-AMG’s dual strategy: on one hand, the brand continues to develop electric vehicles and create new products for the future, and on the other — it does not abandon powerful internal combustion engines, which remain the heart of the brand for many fans. The focus on the North American market indicates a shift in the company’s geographical priorities amid global economic uncertainty. The success of this strategy will depend on how well AMG manages to balance innovation with preserving its sporting DNA.
