Return of a Legend
Mercedes-AMG is preparing the return of its most extreme model. The next generation AMG GT Black Series is already undergoing testing, and it promises to become the most radical version in history. The car is being developed in parallel with the new GT3 racing car, with the road version serving as the basis for its homologation.
Technology from the Track
The company presented a concept car called the Concept AMG GT Track Sport, which is the very camouflaged prototype recently tested on the Nürburgring track. According to the manufacturer, the road version will become a direct competitor to cars like the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Ford Mustang GTD. Unlike hybrid models, this project focuses on uncompromising lightweight construction and racing DNA. Under the hood, a new version of the AMG V8 engine with a flat-plane crankshaft is expected.
Aerodynamic Monster
The exterior of the concept impresses with aggressive aerodynamic elements. The car looks longer and wider than the standard AMG GT. Key details include:
We are developing the most extreme Black Series in history. At the same time, we want to set the next record in motorsport with the future GT3. The basis for this is the CONCEPT AMG GT TRACK SPORT… This is our unequivocal commitment to maximum performance, a promise for the race track and the road alike.
These words from the Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, Michael Schiebe, underscore the company’s stakes in this project. After testing on its own track in Immendingen and other European circuits, testing on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife is the final stage before the presentation.
Expectations and Prospects
Details remain limited for now, but it is already clear that Mercedes-AMG aims to create a true track “beast.” The parallel development of the road and racing versions indicates the engineers’ deep immersion in the world of motorsport. This approach allows technologies honed in the harsh conditions of racing to be transferred directly to production cars, making the future Black Series not just a powerful coupe, but a true racing car adapted for public roads. The success of this model could set a new direction for the entire high-performance car segment, where weight, aerodynamics, and pure mechanical feedback are once again becoming top priorities.
