Apple introduced CarPlay Ultra — a revolutionary system for full control of all screens in your car

Aston Martin is the first to receive the new version of CarPlay Ultra from Apple

The company Aston Martin has become the first automaker to receive the updated CarPlay Ultra system from Apple. The new version significantly expands functionality compared to standard CarPlay, allowing control of climate control and other car systems. Initially, the system will only be available for Aston Martin models in North America, but later it will be introduced to other brands such as Ford, Volvo, Hyundai, and Porsche.

CarPlay Ultra, which was announced earlier but has only now reached production cars, will appear in many other brands soon.

Key advantages of CarPlay Ultra

The main difference of the new system is the ability to display information on multiple car screens, including the digital instrument panel. Drivers will be able to customize the interface, choose colors, and arrange apps, making the system more personalized. Additionally, CarPlay Ultra integrates with the car’s electronic systems, allowing control of climate or other functions via the voice assistant Siri.

However, not all manufacturers are ready to fully hand over screen control to Apple. For example, Mercedes will limit the functionality of Ultra in its cars. Aston Martin also retains physical buttons for key functions, such as adaptive dampers or the active exhaust system.

Owners of new Aston Martin models will be able to upgrade to Ultra via software. This became possible thanks to the brand’s transition to its own infotainment system after many years of using Mercedes technologies.

Apple’s development demonstrates how mobile technologies are increasingly integrating into cars, giving drivers more opportunities for personalization and convenient control. Although some manufacturers are cautious about handing over control to third-party systems, the trend of collaborating with tech giants is gaining momentum.
