The flagship sedan Audi A8 has ended its history. After nearly three decades of market presence, the German manufacturer has discontinued the model, deciding to refocus on the luxury crossover segment. This is reported by “Auto Express”.

The Audi A8 appeared in the mid-1990s and has undergone four generations since then. For a long time, the model was the brand’s main representative sedan and competed with the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class. However, demand for classic luxury sedans is gradually declining, while the market for large SUVs is growing.

Despite the end of production, at the time of publication, the model could still be configured on the official Audi website. At the same time, insiders report that the production line has already been stopped, and order acceptance was closed in February 2026. Some dealers may have remaining cars in stock.

In the near future, the company plans to introduce the new flagship SUV Audi Q9. The model is expected to become a competitor to the Range Rover and Mercedes-Benz GLS.

According to preliminary data, the Q9 may receive gasoline and plug-in hybrid powertrains, as well as a diesel variant. A sporty SQ9 version with a twin-turbo V8 is also likely to appear in the lineup.

So far, Audi has not announced a fully electric version of this off-roader, which could compete with the upcoming Range Rover Electric.
