New photos and details about the Audi E7X electric SUV
Just a few months after the first photos of the Audi E7X electric SUV, designed exclusively for the Chinese market, emerged, new images of this large vehicle have appeared during winter testing in China. While some Audi electric vehicles sold in Western markets may seem outdated, this model has the potential to become a serious competitor to local Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers.
The design of the E7X is practically identical to the E SUV concept that Audi presented at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November last year. Thus, it is very similar to the E5 Sportback, but in the form of a tall SUV. The purple car photographed in the snow is undoubtedly eye-catching.
The new Audi E7X is not like the Audis you know
The new images confirm that the front end will include an illuminated Audi logo, and complex LED daytime running lights will extend across the entire radiator grille. Created in partnership with the Chinese giant SAIC, the E7X is quite impressive and will fit harmoniously into the country’s bright and vibrant cities.
Technological features and equipment
Like the E5 Sportback, the E7X has a prominent lidar on the roof, as well as a set of digital rearview mirrors. Data from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, published in December, confirmed that these will be optional, with traditional mirrors also available.
The rear of the E7X, like the front, features LED taillights that wrap around the tailgate, and a red Audi logo. There is also a prominent roof spoiler to improve aerodynamics.
Powertrain capabilities
In terms of power, the electric E7X will be very powerful. The base model will use a rear-axle motor with 402 hp, and an all-wheel-drive version with two motors producing 671 hp will also be available. Buyers will be able to choose between a 100 kWh battery and a 109.3 kWh battery, both compatible with an 800-volt electrical architecture. The E7X’s range will vary from 615 km to 751 km depending on the motor configuration, battery, and wheel size.
More details about the E7X, including the very important price information, are expected to be announced in the coming months.
The emergence of the Audi E7X could signify a shift in the brand’s strategy in one of the world’s largest electric vehicle markets. Created specifically for China in collaboration with a local partner, this car demonstrates how global manufacturers are adapting to local preferences and technological demands. Its future-oriented specifications and design indicate that competition in the premium electric SUV segment in China will only intensify, which could ultimately benefit consumers through greater choice and innovation.
