Updated Audi Q6 for the Chinese market
While in Europe and the USA the Audi Q6 is presented exclusively as an electric car, for China the company is preparing a completely different model. This is a longitudinally mounted crossover with internal combustion engines, which has received an updated design. Among the innovations are retractable door handles and minor changes in the front-end styling.
The Chinese Q6 is built on an elongated MQB Evo platform, which is used by the Golf and A3. The base engine remains a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, but the top version may lose the 2.5-liter VR6 due to tax restrictions. The updated model is expected to appear on the market no earlier than 2026.
Interestingly, the Chinese market remains the only one where the Volkswagen Group still offers narrow-angle VR6 engines. At the same time, the global electric Q6 e-tron is built on the special PPE platform, which it shares with the Porsche Macan EV.
