Audi introduced its largest SUV, which will compete with the BMW X7 and Cadillac Escalade

New Audi Q9: what is known about the future flagship SUV

The prototype of the 2027 Audi Q9 no longer hides its shape under thick camouflage, as it did before. Fresh photos show that the model has significant differences from the Q7, including a massive radiator grille with 16 vertical slats and a high-mounted Audi logo. The front-end design is complemented by split LED headlights and a wide lower grille with sensors.

In profile, the Q9 looks quite restrained, with a long hood, a sloping windshield, and massive wheels. The rear resembles other modern Audi models thanks to boomerang-shaped LED taillights connected by a thin light strip. The manufacturer also added a minimalist exhaust system.

“We expect the Q9 to feature a modern digital instrument panel, a large multimedia screen, and an additional display for the passenger”

Technical features and expected specifications

The new SUV will be built on the Premium Platform Combustion and will offer both traditional internal combustion engines and hybrid options. Among the possible options is a 3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine with a mild hybrid system, which delivers 362 hp in the Audi A6. A plug-in hybrid with a 2.0-liter engine and a powerful battery is also expected.

Although the interior remains unseen for now, it can be expected in the spirit of the brand’s latest models—with three large screens and modern materials. The Audi Q9 will be a direct competitor to the BMW X7 and Cadillac Escalade, offering more space and advanced technology.

The model’s launch is planned no earlier than 2027, and it may become one of the last full-size SUVs with traditional engines before the full transition to electric vehicles. The company emphasizes the combination of power, comfort, and innovation, making the Q9 a key player in the premium segment.
