Audi will soon rid the A3 and S3 of mechanical buttons

New Audi S3 to receive updated instrument panel

Recently, the Audi S3 underwent a minor facelift, receiving updated bumpers, a radiator grille, and lighting elements. The manufacturer also made changes to the interior to refresh the model.

At that time, the company stated that the cabin was “significantly updated” thanks to a new center console and a redesigned gear selector lever. Designers added new air deflectors, more refined door panels, and a Sonos audio system. These changes were accompanied by additional equipment.

Camouflaged prototype with a new interior

Despite its external similarity to the regular model, the prototype hides a completely new interior concealed under camouflage. Although the camouflage hides many details, a completely new instrument panel and a significantly larger multimedia system, now positioned next to the digital instrument cluster, are visible.

Spy shots show that the interior resembles new models like the A5, suggesting an expected 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8 or 14.5-inch multimedia system.

In addition to the new displays, a modern steering wheel with a minimalist four-ring logo is visible. The most noticeable change is the abandonment of physical buttons in favor of touch-sensitive controls. These changes are quite significant, considering the recent model facelift. However, since the current generation of the Audi S3 will remain on the market for some time, the manufacturer likely decided to bring its interior closer to the brand’s latest standards.

The interior update, especially after the recent facelift, indicates Audi’s desire to keep the model relevant in a competitive market. The transition to larger displays and touch controls aligns with the general trend towards digitalizing cabins, although it sparks debate among fans of classic solutions.
