Audi is updating its popular A5 sedan and Q5 SUV models for the 2026 model year. The updates include functional additions and refinements to existing features. Key changes include the introduction of a new steering wheel with physical scroll wheels, which have already been approved for European models.
Infotainment System Update
The most noticeable changes concern the Audi Digital Stage – the three-screen dashboard layout. While the overall screen arrangement remains familiar, it now comes with an updated user interface. Lists have been shortened, graphics are more expressive, and the overall structure, according to the manufacturer, simplifies navigation while driving, reducing driver distraction.

Along with the new interface, the virtual cockpit now offers several display modes. Smartphone integration has also been improved – its interface can be mirrored directly onto the virtual cockpit display, simplifying access to frequently used apps. On the passenger side, the additional display has been updated, and a new option for connecting a Bluetooth headset for personalized audio or video playback has been added.
Return of Tactile Controls
Audi has also introduced an updated four-spoke steering wheel for both models. It still uses the widely criticized touch-sensitive buttons but is now supplemented with two physical scroll wheels. This is intended to make using the steering wheel significantly more convenient.
Furthermore, for the 2026 Audi A5, the S Sport suspension and a Bang & Olufsen sound system with speakers in the headrests are available. The model can also be ordered with the S line black package, which includes unique 19-inch wheels and black exterior elements. A similar package for the Q5 comes with 20-inch wheels.
New Technologies and Features

Among the useful updates is the installation of a standard dashcam. It is discreetly located near the base of the rearview mirror and is controlled via the infotainment system. Recordings are saved to an SD memory card, simplifying their review.
The Park Assist Pro function has also been updated. The car can now steer itself for distances of up to 50 meters when reversing into a parking space. The system can store up to five different parking maneuvers, each up to 200 meters long, and execute them autonomously on private property, a feature similar to that offered by some new BMW models.
For driving enthusiasts, the 2026 Audi S5 features a new Dynamic Plus driving mode. It allows for controlled drifts thanks to settings for brake torque vectoring, the sport differential quattro, and optimization of the electronic stability control system.
Pricing and Availability
Audi plans to start sales of the updated A5 and Q5 this quarter. The starting price for the A5 will be $50,200, which is $500 more than the 2025 model. The base Q5 will cost $52,800, $600 higher than the previous year.
The updates for the A5 and Q5 appear to be a logical step in response to criticism of some decisions from previous years, particularly the full transition to touch controls. The return of physical scroll wheels on the steering wheel is a clear attempt to find a balance between modern design and user convenience. The focus on improving the interface and adding practical features like a standard dashcam indicates an orientation towards the everyday needs of drivers. The price increase is moderate and is likely to be justified for buyers due to the new capabilities, especially in top trim levels and for the sporty S5 model.
