Auction of Vehicles from The Walking Dead Universe
Since the premiere of The Walking Dead series 15 years ago, it has not only revived the zombie drama genre but also spawned a number of spin-offs. Now fans have a unique opportunity to become owners of a part of this history thanks to a joint project by AMC Networks and Heritage Auctions.
What is Offered at the Auction
Over 1000 items from the series universe are up for sale, including iconic props, costumes of the main characters, vehicles, weapons, set decorations, and special effects that defined the post-apocalyptic world of the series.
The Most Famous Vehicle
The most iconic lot is the 1973 Winnebago Chieftain RV driven by Dale Horvath in the series. The starting price is $5000. The description states that the vehicle “shows significant signs of wear and aging,” and has “carpeting soiled with artificial blood.”
Mechanical components have not been inspected, and we make no warranties regarding roadworthiness or functionality.
This RV appeared as early as the first episode of the series and was abandoned on Hershel’s farm in episode 13 of the second season.
Daryl Dixon’s Motorcycles
For fans of Daryl Dixon, several motorcycles used by Norman Reedus are offered. The earliest among them is a custom chopper based on a Triumph Bonneville, used in the first four seasons.
For those looking for something less associated with Nazi symbolism, there is a custom motorcycle from the fifth to the eighth seasons based on a Honda CB750 Nighthawk chassis. Also featured is an off-road motorcycle based on a KTR 450 Enduro, which could be seen in the series finale.
Other Interesting Exhibits
Among the cars, the 1971 Pontiac Tempest LeMans with the GTO package, which appeared at the beginning of the first episode, is noteworthy. This is the very car used by the criminals who wounded Rick Grimes.
Best wishes for the zombie apocalypse
The car holds special value due to Andrew Lincoln’s autograph and his inscription. The collection is completed by an armored MRAP vehicle and the so-called “nuclear car” from Fear the Walking Dead, the latter created on a Ford Pinto base.
This auction has become a kind of bridge between the fictional world of the series and reality, offering fans a unique opportunity to own a piece of the iconic franchise. Although most of the vehicles are not intended for everyday use, their historical and cultural value for series fans is hard to overestimate. Such auctions demonstrate how deeply modern media franchises influence pop culture and collecting.
