Auto enthusiasts from the California tuning atelier S-Klub LA have presented a radical restomod, in which the modern Mercedes-AMG S63 E-Performance essentially became a donor for the classic Mercedes-Benz 600 W100. The project is named Final Boss and combines the design of a 1970s limousine with the technology of the flagship 2024 S-Class. This is reported by Motor1.
Mercedes-AMG S63 E-Performance became a donor for the W100 restomod
The founder of S-Klub LA, Ed Sarkisian, purchased a new S63 E-Performance costing over $200,000 and drove it for about 4,000 miles. After that, the car was completely disassembled. The reason for choosing this particular model is simple: the wheelbase of the short-wheelbase W100 almost coincides with the long-wheelbase modern S-Class (V223). The team did not adapt new components to the old chassis but performed a complete platform replacement.
The body of a 1971 Mercedes-Benz 600, found in Texas after nearly a decade of inactivity, was restored and mounted on the modern S63 platform. As a result, the car retained the hybrid powertrain with a biturbo 4.0-liter V8 and an electric motor, with a combined output of over 800 hp and torque exceeding 1,430 Nm.
Mercedes-Benz 600 W100 received modern electronics and design
Along with the powertrain, the suspension, brakes, and all electronics were transferred, including the MBUX multimedia system, massage seats, and the driver assistance suite. The interior looks like that of a modern S-Class but is housed in the more compact body of the classic W100.
Externally, the car was significantly widened to match the AMG track. The headlights of the original W100 were 3D-scanned and redesigned for modern LED optics with functional air intakes. The body is painted in dark green, while the roof, mirrors, and aerodynamic elements are made of exposed carbon fiber.
The project was prepared for display at SEMA 2025. According to S-Klub LA, all systems work completely as standard, including the hybrid drive and comfort features.
